I am a gamer. I have been a gamer all of my life.

One of my favorite types of games are puzzle games. This last weekend I picked up a fun puzzler called Opus Magnum during the latest steam sale. It’s a game where you get a set of pieces and have to build simple machines that assemble things from parts.

There are leaderboards at the end of each puzzle that shows how you compare to people on your steam friends list, and overall. No surprise, I always end up at the very low end of how many components I need, but really up on the number of steps in my solutions. I guess it comes from being a programmer for so long - always going for what in my mind is the most elegant solution.

It’s a pretty fun game. Each level is bite sized, so it’s a pretty casual experience. A nice break from pitting my brain against other players in chess or wargaming in Crusader Kings 3.
